Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet star in new Dune Part Two trailer
Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet are back! The highly anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi saga, Dune, has released a new trailer that promises more action, drama, and intrigue.
Dune Part Two continues the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), the young heir of a noble family who joins forces with the Fremen, the native people of the desert planet Arrakis, and their leader Chani (Zendaya), to fight against the tyrannical Harkonnen family and the corrupt Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken).
The new trailer, which debuted at Brazil’s Comic-Con Experience (CCXP), gives a glimpse of the war that will unfold across the galaxy, as well as the new characters that will join the cast. Among them are Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler), the cruel and ambitious nephew of the Harkonnen leader Baron Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård), and Princess Irulan Corrino (Florence Pugh), the daughter of the Emperor and a potential bride for Paul. Both Butler and Pugh are almost unrecognizable in their roles, sporting elaborate costumes and makeup.
The trailer also shows more of the returning characters, such as Paul’s mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), his mentor Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin), his ally Stilgar (Javier Bardem), and his enemy Glossu Rabban (Dave Bautista). Fans of the first film will also be happy to see more of the giant sandworms, the mystical spice, and the stunning visuals that Villeneuve is known for.
The film was shot on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy, and features a score by Hans Zimmer. Villeneuve has said that the sequel will be more emotional, complex, and satisfying than the first film, which he considered as an introduction to the world and the characters of Dune. He also said that the sequel does not require viewers to have seen the first film, as it will recap the essential elements of the story.
Dune Part Two is of the most anticipated films of 2024, and judging by the new trailer, it will not disappoint. The film is set to hit theaters on March 1st, 2024.
