The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection sparks debate amid filming in 2025 confirmed
A sequel to ‘The Passion Of The Christ’ will start filming in 2025 but social media users on X (formerly known as Twitter) are confused about what is left to cover about Jesus’ storyline.
According to Collider, the film is launching under the name of ‘The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection’ which from its name, will cover Jesus’ resurrection despite fans claiming that the story was already told in the first movie deeming the sequel “Unnecessary.”
According to Italian news outlet Italpress, Mel Gibson is currently in Malta in search of locations to film the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Moreover, the five-day visit will also include meeting with government officials and production is expected to start in early 2025.

Take in mind that no specific date was given on when it’s starting exactly. Mel Gibson is working hand in hand with Co-writer Randall Wallace who received an Oscar nomination for ‘Brave Heart’ and it’s claimed that they revised the script of ‘The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection’
One user wrote, “Did I miss part of the Bible or something?” to which another replied with, “Yes the resurrection” although it was only shown at the end of the first movie.
Social media users speculated what the movie could cover from the Bible including the 40 days between the Resurrection and Ascension, the Book of Acts, and more.
The Passion of the Christ hit cinemas in 2004 garnering decent reviews from audiences and fans but was slammed by critics with scores such as 49 percent from Rotten Tomatoes and 47 percent from Metacritic. Many fans of the first movie are waiting in anticipation to witness what it could cover in the sequel.
