Did Dani Alves commit suicide in jail?
Activists online allegedly reported that former Brazilian football player Dani Alves had committed suicide in jail.
In February, a Spanish court sentenced the famous player Dani Alves to four years and a half in jail for rape. The star, who is a former Barcelona player, was found guilty of nightclub sexual assault and was sentenced to four years and six months in jail.
Alves, 40, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the early hours of Dec. 31, 2022. However, the player denied the accusations.
The Barcelona Court after reviewing the case sentenced Dani Alves to four and a half years in prison for the sexual assault of a 23-year-old girl in the toilets of a booth at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona.
Did Dani Alves commit a suicide in jail?
Rumors circulated on social media about Dani Alves’ suicide on Saturday evening, without an official or confirmed statement from Alves’ family or even from his lawyer or media representatives.
Paulo Albuquerqu was believed to be the first one to share the rumor about the football player after he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday evening: “According to the information I received, Daniel Alves killed himself in prison.”
Following the news, Brazilian journalist Marcelo Pichler reported that Daniel Alves’ representatives, after speaking with a lawyer, refuted rumors that the player had committed suicide in his cell where he was serving his sentence for raping a young Spanish woman.
