Assassin’s Creed Shadows receives mixed reviews, poor voice acting and gay romance

Ubisoft’s savior or breaker, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is finally out after a series of delays and countless controversies. While several game journalism outlets are praising the game, many content creators have criticized its flaws, leading to debate and speculation on social media.

Days before its release, several game journalist outlets took to social media with high reviews including IGN, VGC, Dexerto, and many more, stating that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the breath of fresh air, the franchise has needed since Oddysey for its quality of life adjustments, less bloated open world compared to Valhalla, and next-gen graphics.

On the contrary, many fans and trusted content creators on YouTube, including Gameranx, SomeOrdinaryGamers, Mortismal Gaming, and others, pointed out the game’s flaws, such as a not-so-enjoyable storyline, lackluster voice acting, bugs, boring gameplay, and more. Several recommended that their fans either wait for a sale or an Xbox Game Pass release.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was also targetted by the “anti-woke” crowd who blasted the game across social media for allowing players to get into gay relationships with other characters in the game.

For example, a clip of Yasuke being intimate with a non-binary character has sparked debate on the internet, and the same goes for Naoe who had several clips of her shared being intimate with another woman.

Several others also expressed their disapproval with Ubisoft adding microtransactions in a paid singleplayer game.

A user on Valve’s Steam wrote, “Microtransaction in single player game never cease to pisses me off.” Further giving it a thumbs down. Other PC gamers have also reported suffering from optimization issues claiming that they can’t even maintain a steady FPS despite having a well-kitted PC.

Despite all the hiccups the game is facing, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is currently topping the “Top Sellers” category on Steam.
