Malayali Indian singer Nisar Wayanad dies at 44 in Dubai

Malayali Indian singer Nisar Wayanad recently passed away at 44 at a hospital in Dubai on Saturday, hours before his performance in Ajman, as reported by Gulf News. 

Wayanad was hospitalized after suffering a high fever. Reports confirmed that the singer later died due to “Acidosis,” a medical condition that occurs when the body produces too much acid.

Legally known as Nissar Aroth Ibrahim, the singer got his stage name from his “Udit Narayan-like” voice and his home district, Wayanad. Udit Narayan is an award-winning Bollywood singer who still performs globally at the age of 70.

Indian expats from Kerala in the UAE were shocked to hear of his death, calling him a “gifted but underrated singer.” His name would come up regularly among Malayali communities in Dubai.

Nisar’s close friend Noujas Kayakkool was among the last people to speak to him:

Noujas told Gulf News, “He was with me earlier yesterday morning. I knew he had been running a fever for a couple of days, but he was taking paracetamol, thinking it would subside. Later in the day, he called to say he was going to the hospital. When I learnt from the hospital that his condition was serious, I was coordinating with them to ensure he received the best possible treatment. Unfortunately, the doctors could not save him.”

He added, “He took on the responsibility of supporting his family at a very young age following the death of his father, and now he too has been taken from us far too soon. More than a talented singer, he was a very dear friend to me. This is an irreplaceable loss.”
