Egyptian actor Emad Moharam dies aged 74

The artistic community was shocked on Wednesday by the death of Egyptian actor Emad Moharam at the age of 74, local media confirmed.

According to Egyptian newspapers, Emad Moharam died after a long struggle with illness. The body of the deceased was transported from the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed City after the noon prayer, and condolences will be held near the cemetery.

Audiences knew him for playing villains and strong characters, but he also portrayed diverse characters that left a distinct mark on Egyptian cinema and television.

His most famous role was in the movie “El Afareet” in 1990, in which he played the character “Shamandi,” the villain who kidnaps children. This role remains etched in the memory of the Egyptian audience to this day.
