Black Myth: Wukong gets 1.4 million players in hours, beating Elden Ring
Despite several Western media outlets trying to press Chinese studio Game Science over “sexism” and “Diversity,” Black Myth: Wukong is rising on Steam’s top charts and is already the sixth-highest played game in Steam history.
By the time of reporting, Black Myth: Wukong has more than 1.4 million people playing the game beating great games like Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 and it seems Valve’s own MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena), Dota 2 is next on the line!
Also, the game in question lived up to both the gameplay and graphical hype with many content creators reacting to its stunning opening scene.
Take in mind, that these are only Steam numbers not counting the players who purchased the game on PS5 and the Epic Games Store!

Wukong seems to have been receiving the Hogwarts Legacy treatment where some journalists and activists tried to cancel the game over Harry Potter’s J.K Rowling for her controversial takes on social media.
Despite desperate attempts to cancel them, Hogwarts Legacy garnered 24 million sales across the board and Wukong launched with a very promising player base slamming anyone who tried to affect them.
Furthermore, Twitch streamers are already at it by streaming the game on the platform including big content creators like XQC and Asmongold.
What is Black Myth: Wukong about?
The game is inspired by the 16-century Chinese novel, Journey to the West with the iconic Sun Wukong as its main character.
Game Science described the game in Valve’s Steam as:
“Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past.”
