Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged after years of dating
After dating for a number of years, Zendaya and Tom Holland are apparently engaged.
On Monday, January 6, TMZ said that Holland, 28, proposed to Zendaya, 28, during the holidays. Us Weekly contacted the representatives of both stars for a response.
When Zendaya was seen on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes with a diamond ring on her left hand, it ignited engagement speculations. The Los Angeles Times said on Sunday, January 5, that Zendaya “smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously” when a reporter asked her if she was engaged. Holland did not attend the awards ceremony.
The England native and Euphoria star first connected in 2016 while working on Spider-Man: Homecoming. The stars’ official relationship was announced by Us Weekly in July 2017. Zendaya reportedly presented the Cherry actor to her family five months later, according to a story by Us.
At the time, a source told Us, “Tom has met Zendaya’s family and they love him.” “After about a year, they are still seeing each other.”
In August 2017, Zendaya revealed that Holland was “literally one of my best friends.” But in the years between the first and second Spider-Man movies, their romance stopped.
In February 2020, seven months after Spider-Man: Far From Home, the Spider-Man sequel, was released in July 2019, Zendaya was seen kissing her co-star Jacob Elordi, who later dated Kaia Gerber that same fall. From 2019 to April 2020, Holland was associated with Olivia Bolton.
When Holland unintentionally tagged Zendaya’s Instagram handle on his groin in a social media image in February 2021, romance speculations were reignited.
The English actor told British GQ at the time, “That was hilarious; it was clearly a mistake.” In all seriousness, though, it is also very annoying. I’m really nervous about it. It means that if you are dating someone, you have to be really conscious of their feelings, because if something does happen between the two of you, it’s not just happening between the two of you, it’s happening in front of the entire world. It can also be extremely complex. Out of everything in my work, it’s one of the things I worry about the most.
Five months later, the pair were spotted kissing in a car in Los Angeles — confirming their romance.
In November 2021, one month before he and Zendaya made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere, Holland told Total Film that he felt “very happy and in love.”
“Zendaya and Tom are in the best place they could be right now,” an insider exclusively told Us the following month. “Going public with their relationship has made them even more strong and confident in their relationship.”
The two have also not been shy about sharing their love for each other on social media.
