Video: Severe tornado hits Florida

A tornado swept through Fort Lauderdale, Florida, causing damage to boats and bringing down power lines on Saturday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Miami received numerous phone calls and social media reports of the tornado near Federal Highway around 5:50 p.m.

A Tornado Warning was issued by the NWS approximately 5 minutes prior to the reported tornado.

No immediate injuries have been reported, and only isolated power outages were noted following the tornado. Numerous residents captured the twister and shared their footage on social media platforms.

Multiple videos on X.com depicted a cloud taking shape above downtown Fort Lauderdale and touching down in the vicinity. Some of the shared footage even displayed the cloud causing an apparent explosion as it spun.
