Hospital accused of presenting deceased patient as alive to family

In the United States, a hospital is facing serious accusations regarding the presentation of a deceased patient to her family.

Pre-Surgery Health and Lawsuit

Before undergoing surgery at Ohio’s Adena Health System Hospital in the Chillicothe region, a 65-year-old woman in good health was identified. The patient’s family has taken legal action against the hospital due to discrepancies between the recorded time of death on the death certificate and in the hospital’s records.

While the hospital’s records state that the patient passed away at 1:00 PM local time, the death certificate indicates a time of death two hours later at 3:05 PM. This timing aligns with when the family asserts they were ushered into the patient’s room, where they claim to have witnessed her body propped up to create the illusion of life.

Surgery Conducted by Dr. Jarrod Betz

Dr. Jarrod Betz, a cardiologist who had previously come under scrutiny, was responsible for performing the patient’s surgery. Allegations suggest that during the procedure, Dr. Betz accidentally severed an artery. Although he believed he had successfully managed the bleeding at the time of the operation, it is alleged that the bleeding persisted once the patient was returned to the intensive care unit.

Request for Independent Autopsy

Upon discovering that the regional medical examiner, Ben Trotter, is also affiliated with the Adena Health System, the family has requested an independent autopsy to uncover the truth behind this unsettling situation.
