Video: Family dies after falling from 21-floor in Indonesia

A family tragedy unfolded in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday as a couple and their two teenage children met a tragic end after falling from the roof of a 21-floor apartment. Police authorities are investigating the incident as a suspected case of mass suicide.

Initial investigations by the authorities, based on video footage obtained from security cameras at the Teluk Intan Tower Apartment in the Penjaringan District, suggest a grim scenario.

According to Penjaringan Police Chief Comr. Agus Ady Wijaya, the family arrived at the apartment’s parking ground in a Daihatsu GranMax at 4:02 p.m.

After a brief stop, they proceeded to the apartment’s main lobby by 4:04 p.m.

Subsequently, utilizing an elevator to ascend to the 21st floor, they then accessed the roof via the stairs. Tragically, at 4:21 p.m., they fell to the ground below.

The police investigation, aided by video evidence, suggests premeditation in the sequence of events leading to the fatal incident. ”

From these gestures, we concluded that the mass suicide had been pre-planned,” stated Agus.

The absence of other individuals in the footage further strengthens the hypothesis of a mass suicide.

“We are not yet able to determine the motive that led these family members to commit suicide,” Agus noted, indicating an ongoing investigation involving scene analysis, evidence collection, and testimonial acquisition.

Additionally, the discovery of the victims’ bodies revealed disturbing details. The father and daughter were found with their hands tied together with a rope, while the mother was tied to her son.

Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities have affirmed the nature of the incident. “However, we can confirm that this is a suicide case,” concluded Agus.

The bodies have been transported to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta for further examination through autopsies, as authorities strive to comprehend the tragic events that led to the family’s demise.
