With 2023 almost coming to an end, this year has given movie fanatics quite the roster to choose from starting with one of the best 3D animation movies of the decade followed by an intense dramatic biography about the one and only, Oppenheimer.

1) Best Biography – Oppenheimer
No 2023 movie list is complete without Oppenheimer.
Directed by the legendary Christopher Nolan who is known for his work on Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk, and more.
The movie tells the story of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer who is tasked with a top-secret Manhattan Project. Follow Robert’s most important life events as he works with a team of scientists developing the devastating atomic bomb.

2) Best Animation – Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The sequel of the beloved Spiderverse movie which shook the animation world for its stunning and unique visuals, beautiful story, and great characters.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stars Miles Morales as he joins forces with Gwen Stacey to try to stop Spot who is a scientist, from harnessing the power of the multiverse. Follow Miles as he jumps from one universe to the other as he meets fellow Spider-people from different timelines and universes while trying to fix the world.

3) Best Pop culture – Barbie
Both Oppenheimer and Barbie made quite the appearance this year with many people mixing the two-opposite films in what they call Barbenheimer as they both released on the same date. This resulted in people going to theaters to watch both films on the same day.
Barbie tells the story of how the human world is not as perfect and colorful as theirs in Barbie Land. But not all is hopeless as Barbie and Ken discover the joys of humanity through living and meeting with them.

4) Best Comedy – Cocaine Bear
One of the weirdest yet hilarious movies of the year 2023. The title says it all, a huge black bear consumes tons of cocaine as he embarks on a drug-fueled journey of rampage in the forest endangering civilians including police officers, criminals, tourists, and teenagers.

5) Best Superhero – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has to be our favorite live-action superhero movie of the year as Marvel doesn’t make them like this anymore. In our opinion, the third movie of the beloved franchise was the best among the three installments.
It had everything a Guardians of the Galaxy movie should’ve had including comedy, action, drama, and several life lessons from Rocket’s past life.
The synopsis will contain spoilers from previous films, proceed with caution:
“Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team to defend the universe and protect one of their own. If the mission is not completely successful, it could possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

6) Best Horror – Evil Dead Rise
Last but not least, the award for the most horrifying film of the year goes to, Evil Dead Rise! Imagine reuniting with your sister but the happiness gets cut short after a flesh-possessing demon takes over one of your bodies. this is what Evil Dead Rise is about according to Google:
“A reunion between two estranged sisters gets cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.”
