The most popular name for baby boys in England, Wales: Muhammad

Muhammad is now the most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales, according to a study published by the Office for National Statistics.

ONS said Muhammad was the second most popular in 2022 and has been among the 10 most popular names for boys in England and Wales since 2016.

Noah was the most popular name for baby boys last year. According to ONS, Muhammad was the most popular name in four out of nine regions in England. That includes London and the North and Midlands of England.

Noah, Oliver and Arthur were the most popular in the other five regions

Pop artists Billie Eilish and Lana Del Ray influenced other popular baby names.

The most popular names for baby girls were Olivia, Amelia and Isla. That has stayed the same since 2022, ONS said.
