“Strange happening” Investigation after Birmingham river turns red
A river in Birmingham has left both residents and officials puzzled as its waters turned a bright red, prompting an immediate investigation by environmental authorities.
The unusual phenomenon was first noticed at Perry Common Meadows in Birmingham, Wednesday, by a vigilant member of the public.
Councillor Jilly Bermingham, responsible for the area, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to inform the public and share her commitment to getting to the bottom of the mystery. Her post read, ‘I have been made aware of the strange happening in Perry Common Meadows, and I am having it investigated.’
The announcement on social media generated a flurry of responses from concerned residents and curious onlookers.
Although the water had largely returned to its normal state by the following day, traces of the red hue were still observable further downstream.
Ms. Bermingham, in a statement to BirminghamLive, expressed her concern and provided insight into the ongoing investigation. She stated, ‘I have the environment officers going down to check it out.
