Story behind German man who got 217 Covid vaccines
Doctors have reported a strange case involving a 62-year-old German man who decided to get vaccinated 217 times against Covid, despite medical advice against it.
The story of the German man echoed worldwide was first reported by The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal, and puzzled researchers at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
The man went against medical advice and privately received these shots over 29 months. Surprisingly, the constant vaccinations did not cause any harm to his health, according to the researchers.
Dr. Kilian Schober, from the microbiology department, said that doctors noticed the man’s case through newspapers and eventually contacted him for further investigation. The man willingly provided blood and saliva samples for testing.
Although the public prosecutor in the city of Magdeburg opened an investigation into possible fraud related to 130 of the injections, no criminal charges were filed.
The research aimed to understand how the immune system responds to repeated doses of the vaccine. While there were concerns about over-stimulating the immune system, the man thankfully did not show any negative effects from the multitude of vaccines.
The researchers emphasized that hyper-vaccination is not a recommended strategy for enhancing immunity. They concluded that the current research backs the standard approach of a three-dose vaccination with potential booster shots for vulnerable groups.
There is no evidence to suggest that excessive vaccinations are necessary. The NHS advises that COVID-19 vaccines may have side effects, typically mild reactions such as a sore arm at the injection site.
