Rebecca Ferguson refuses to work with idiot co-star who screamed at her
Rebecca Ferguson, the Swedish actress known for her roles in “Mission: Impossible”, “The Greatest Showman” and “Dune: Part Two”, has opened up about a traumatic experience she had with a co-star who verbally abused her on set.
In an interview with the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Ferguson said she once worked with an “absolute idiot of a co-star” who was “being so insecure and angry” and would insult her in front of the crew. She did not name the co-star or the project they worked on, but said it was not Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman.
Ferguson said she felt “so scared” and “screamed at” by the co-star, who was number one on the call sheet and had no one to challenge them. She said she eventually stood up for herself and told the co-star to “get off my set” and that she would act to a tennis ball instead of their face.
She said she also confronted the director, who admitted they were “trying to fluff this person because it’s so unstable”. She said the situation improved after that, but it took her a long time to get to that point.
Ferguson said she learned to be more assertive and confident after that experience, which happened “within my last 10 or 12 years” of acting. She said she now has a “no-nonsense” attitude and does not tolerate any disrespect or unprofessionalism on set.
She also received support from her co-star Dwayne Johnson, who starred with her in “Hercules” in 2014. Johnson commented on a video clip of the interview on Instagram, saying he hated seeing what she went through but loved seeing her stand up to it. He also said he would like to find out who the co-star was.
Ferguson is currently co-starring in the final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO, alongside her longtime friend Larry David. She is also set to reprise her role as Ilsa Faust in the upcoming “Mission: Impossible 7” and “8”.
