Prada cuts ties with Kim Soo Hyun after Kim Sae Ron underage dating scandal

Italian luxury brand, Prada has officially ended its partnership with Korean star Kim Soo Hyun amid allegations that he reportedly had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, as reported by Soompi.
On March 14, Prada Korea’s representative issued a statement saying that the luxury brand and Kim Soo Hyun’s contract was mutually terminated due to the escalation of the issue, after the star was appointed Prada’s brand ambassador in December 2024.
They further stated, “This decision was made at the headquarters level, and as of now, we can confirm that the contract has been terminated.”

The allegations in question started when a YouTube channel named GaroSaero Research had an interview with Kim Soo Hyun’s self-proclaimed aunt who stated that the star was in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron for six years, alleging that it all started when she was only 15 years old.
In response to the situation, Hyun’s Gold Medalist agency claimed that the Queen of Tears star dated Kim Sae Ron legally from 2019 to 2020 since both individuals were consenting adults at the time.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, brands such as K2 and Tous les Jours also cut ties with the actor amid the allegations.
Korean actress Kim Sae Ron was found dead in her Seoul apartment on Feb. 16 with multiple reports indicating that she reportedly passed by committing suicide. Local police said, “We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide.”
With a promising career start and becoming the youngest South Korean actress to attend the Cannes Film Festival, the actress’s dreams were shattered when she found herself in a DUI (driving under the influence) incident which set her back on many opportunities including drama roles and partnerships.
On the contrary, Kim Soo Hyun first delved into the television industry in 2007, gaining popularity after starring in multiple Korean dramas such as It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Queen of Tears, Crash Landing on You, My Love from the Star, and many more, becoming one of Korea’s most renowned actors.
