The company unveiled plans to establish a new data center in a Wisconsin city in the United States (US) with a total budget of approximately $1 billion. Meta announced the plan amid its ongoing efforts to invest more in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure, as the company plans to spend about $65 billion in 2025.

Notably, the state of Wisconsin announced in February 2025 plans to develop a new data center, without mentioning the name of the company behind it. Sources revealed that the company is Meta, after the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation stated: “It is standard practice to identify the companies it works with once a contract is approved.”

In accordance, Meta said it is planning to spend nearly $65 billion this year to develop its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and cloud computing.

“This project would potentially provide transformative future economic benefits to the community and area,” said the Local Economic Development Authority.
