Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Barış Arduç REFUSE to play this role.. here’s why
Whose Turkish actor name does come to mind when the legendary show Yeşilçam about Turkish cinema in 1960s is mentioned? Kemal Sunal, Tarık Akan, Kadir İnanır, Ediz Hun, Hülya Koçyiğit, Gülşen Bubikoğlu, Filiz Akın and countless of valuable artists whose names cannot be written here.
Of course, it’s no secret that the name Yeşilçam has changed the Turkish cinema over time.
Nowadays, the values and talents of the previous century’s stars have been inherited by today’s stars, and their movies are the ones we watch so passionately and sincerely.
Turkish cinema has kept up with the time and broke new grounds. It has become the 2nd country in the world that exports the majority of movies and TV series to overseas countries.
The fame of Turkey’s artists has spread to almost 7 continents. As such, directors of international cinema started knocking on Turkish actors’ doors.
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and Barış Arduç reject to play an inappropriate role
Famous Turkish actors have turned down project offers that were against Turkey’s family principles. They did not accept the project because they did not comply with the Turkish customs and traditions.
And most recently, an important director has prepared a project with the Turkish name Sapkınlar (translated to: Perverts) to be shot on a digital platform.
The project is set to take place between two women and a man, and the male leading role was first offered to Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ.
However, the star of Aile series has put his foot down and refused to take part in Sapkınlar because it is against the Turkish family values and contradicts with the the customs and traditions of Turkey.
After Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ passed on the opportunity, this director turned to another Turkish male a-lister, famous actor Barış Arduç.
After The Club star read the script, he walked on Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ’s footsepts and turned down the offer too for the same reasons.
Do you think that Sapkınlar will make it to the Turkish cinema, and who will take the lead roles? Or will it be cancelled due to its inappropriate plot?
