Kate Middleton hospitalized after abdominal surgery, cancels all engagements until Easter

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is recovering in the hospital after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday.

The palace said that the surgery was successful and that Kate would remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery.

The palace also said that based on the current medical advice, Kate is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter. She has apologized to all those concerned for postponing her upcoming engagements and hopes to reinstate as many as possible as soon as possible.

The palace did not disclose the nature of the surgery, but said that it was non-cancerous and that Kate wished to keep her personal medical information private. They also said that they would only provide updates on her progress when there was significant new information to share.

Prince William, who is also the Prince of Wales, is supporting his wife during her recovery and taking care of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. He has postponed his official duties while Kate is in the hospital or during the early days of her home recovery.

Kate’s last public appearance was on Christmas Day, when she joined the royal family for their annual walk to church in Sandringham. She looked radiant in a red coat and matching hat, and smiled as she greeted the well-wishers who had gathered to see her.

Kate had a busy December, with several royal engagements and events. She opened the Children’s Day Surgery Unit at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, where she is a patron, and attended the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, where she wore the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara. She also hosted her third annual Together At Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey, which highlighted her Shaping Us early childhood campaign.

Kate is known for her dedication to her royal duties and her passion for various causes, especially those related to children, mental health and the environment.
