Disney unveils release date for Toy Story 5, delays Live-Action Moana by one year
Disney Sets Release Date for Toy Story 5 and Announces One-Year Delay for Live-Action Moana.
With the announcement of new movie release dates for some of its most popular titles, Disney has promised a glut of blockbuster blockbusters in the coming years.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will both produce and star in the live-action Moana film. In the original, Auli’i Cravalho voiced the role of Maui, a demigod who travels across the ocean with the titular character on a quest to break a long-forgotten Polynesian curse.
At the year’s end, “Moana 2” will compete with the first “Wicked” film, which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Seven years after the release of “Toy Story 4” and four years after the release of the spin-off film “Lightyear,” starring Chris Evans, a fifth “Toy Story” film will replace the “Untitled Pixar film” scheduled for mid-June 2026.
Coming out in rapid succession that year, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” “Toy Story 5” and the live-action “Moana” are all aiming for a good summer box office for Disney.
