Amr Diab accused of mocking Iraq wedding fire victims
Egyptian singer Amr Diab landed in hot water after his latest comments on the Iraqi wedding fire tragedy which killed over 100 people during his concert in Jordan’s Aqaba.
Diab was caught on video asking concert organizers to stop fireworks during his event in Aqaba which was attended by over 9,000 people.
In detail, the Egyptian singer said: “Up and down, we can’t handle it, please stop it, it’s better.”
Fans of Amr Diab, 61, were angered by his words during his Jordan concert saying that it would have been better if the the star offered a condolence to the Iraqi people after the wedding fire tragedy instead of mocking victims.
On Friday, the Egyptian singer and composer performed a huge concert in Aqaba’s Ayla Oasis with the attendance of thousands of people.
In separate posts on Instagram, Amr Diab, who won a Guinness World Record holder, the best-selling Middle Eastern artist, posted sharing his happiness with his latest performance in Aqaba.

He wrote: “More snippets and memories from an unforgettable night in Aqaba.” He also said: “Thank you Aqaba.”
The Egyptian star maintained: “An unforgettable night of music and memories at Ayla Oasis, Aqaba! From the stage to the crowd, the energy was electric. Reliving the magic!”
Iraq wedding fire
On Sept. 26, at around 22:45 AST, a fire broke out at the Al Haytham Wedding Hall during an Iraqi wedding in Qaraqosh, Al-Hamdaniya District, Nineveh Governorate causing the death of at least 107 and injured about 150.
According to the Iraqi government, the wedding fire was caused by pyrotechnic flares released inside the hall.
