Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake season 2 renewed by Max

Fans of the gender-swapped versions of Finn and Jake from the original Adventure Time series have a reason to celebrate: Max has announced that Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake will return for a second season in 2024.

The show, which premiered in August 2023, follows the adventures of Fionna the Human and Cake the Cat, along with their friend Simon Petrikov, the former Ice King. The trio embarks on a multiverse-hopping journey of self-discovery, while facing a new enemy who wants to erase them from existence.

The show is developed by Adam Muto, who also served as the showrunner for the latter half of Adventure Time and the Distant Lands specials. The show features the voices of Madeleine Martin as Fionna, Roz Ryan as Cake, Tom Kenny as Simon, Donald Glover as Marshall Lee, Andrew Rannells as Gary Prince, and Sean Rohani as Prismo. The show also features guest stars such as Felicia Day, Jinkx Monsoon, and Phil LaMarr.

The show has received critical acclaim for its animation, humor, story, and LGBTQ+ representation. The show has also been praised for expanding the lore and characters of the Adventure Time franchise, while exploring themes such as identity, friendship, and love. The show has also been nominated for several awards, including the Annie Award for Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Children and the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming.

The first season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake consists of 10 episodes, each running for about 25 minutes. The season finale, titled “The End of Everything”, aired on October 26, 2023.

The second season is expected to have the same number of episodes and will continue the story of Fionna, Cake, and Simon as they face new challenges and discover new worlds.

The release date for the second season has not been announced yet, but fans can expect it to arrive sometime in 2024. In the meantime, fans can watch or rewatch the first season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake on Max.
