Terminally ill GTA 6 fan dies weeks before game launch

A terminally ill GTA 6 fan named Jerry Fort has died weeks before the game’s launch. Jerry went viral back in August after taking to social media with a video in which he wished to play the anticipated game early due to suffering from lung disease.

Jerry was hospitalized after needing a lung transplant, and explained in the video that the surgery is going to be bloody and dangerous. He also poked fun at Rockstar due to GTA 6’s constant delays. The video quickly went viral, sparking a wave of comments from fellow players who were rooting for Jerry to make it to the game’s release.

According to IGN, a GoFundMe page was set up for Jerry to pay for his lung transplant and raised over $50,000 in days. However, after getting the transplant, Jerry faced many complications, causing him to lose function in his body. Jerry’s sister later confirmed via a social media post that he didn’t make it and passed away over the weekend.

Saddened fans flooded several social media posts with comments wishing Jerry’s family their condolences:

“Bro was so close to release, life isn’t fair RIP.”

“Rest in peace man. I hope he is resting now i can’t imagine how heartbroken his family is.”

“This one actually hurts. the whole community was rooting for him. rest easy Jerry.”

“I’m adding Void to my gamertag in his honor when GTA releases.”
