‘Baby Shark’ star to make K-pop debut after 10 years
The boy best known for appearing in Pinkfong’s viral song Baby Shark is set to return to the spotlight after 10 years as a K-pop star.
However, this time, 17-year-old Park Geon-roung will be releasing his first digital single, ‘WAVE,’ on August 20 under the stage name ‘Baby Shark Boy.’ According to several reports, the song will also feature K-pop star Joohoney from Monsta X.
The star said in a statement published by The Korea Herald, “I’ve always been grateful that people still remember a video I appeared in as a kid. Ten years ago I was dancing next to Baby Shark. Now, I wanted to share my own voice and a story I wrote myself.”

A 16-second teaser of Baby Shark Boy’s ‘WAVE’ has already hit YouTube and features the repetitive yet catchy lyrics, “Baby shark, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo,” at the start.
The comeback resonated with many fans of the viral hit song:
“I will be one of your biggest supporters; my childhood was filled with your songs.”
“I can’t believe Park Geon-ryeong has grown up so much already… I’m rooting for your activities! Please release lots of behind-the-scenes footage and photos!”

Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark Dance” video quickly gained traction online upon its release in 2016, becoming YouTube’s most viewed video with a whopping 17.1 billion views. Park Geon-roung was among the children who were featured as dancers in the video.
