On January 31, the actress who played Emily in Paris, who is 35 years old, and the director of the film, who is 41 years old, revealed the news on social media. Through the use of a surrogate, the couple became parents.
Collins said, “Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell,” in an Instagram announcement that she and her husband shared together before the birth of their child.

The year 2019 marked the beginning of the relationship between Collins and McDowell, who is the son of actress Mary Steenburgen and actor Malcolm McDowell. It was in August of that year that they made their Instagram relationship official. The actress posted a couple of pictures of the two of them in France while they were filming the Netflix series Emily in Paris.
She announced their engagement on Instagram in September of 2020.
Using the phrase “I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you, and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together…” as a caption, she posted two photographs from the proposal process.
Collins’ ring is unique, according to a spokesman for the piece’s designer, Irene Neuwirth. The ring features a rose-cut diamond that is placed in a bezel and has a thin gold band.
