Ricky Gervais shares 2025 Golden Globes jokes targeting Diddy and Justin Timberlake

Although he won’t be presenting the Golden Globes in 2025, Ricky Gervais shared on X some of the jokes he would have told.

Having hosted the yearly event five times, Gervais is arguably the most recognizable and contentious Globes host. He last hosted the Globes in 2020.

Gervais posted on X, “I was sitting in the bathtub contemplating what I would say if I were hosting the Golden Globes on Sunday.” “This year has been quite successful for material.”

His monologue would have started, “Hello, and welcome to the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.” It’s been quite the year. Hundreds of entertainers seized the opportunity to visit the Vatican and meet the Pope. Many of them hail from Hollywood. They obviously weren’t satisfied with simply belonging to the world’s second-largest pedo ring.

“They found Justin Timberlake guilty of [drunk driving],” Gervais continued. If he had been in prison, he would have heard the phrase “sexy back” much more frequently.

Additionally, Gervais would have made fun of Diddy by saying, “Kevin Hart claimed that it was awkward to attend one of Diddy’s parties because he wouldn’t leave him alone.” At one point, he had to yell, “I’m a midget, not a child.”

Nikki Glaser, a 2024 breakout comedy sensation who gained widespread popularity for her comments at Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady, is hosting this year’s Golden Globes. Glaser is the first female Globes host to do so by herself. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler previously hosted the ceremony. Glaser discussed her approach to the show in an interview with Variety.

“How am I feeling about the Globes?” We’re handling this as though each of you were a Nobel Prize nominee,” Glaser remarked. “I don’t think I can express my feelings about some of these nominees, who I don’t think deserve it, with the honesty I would like to.” My writing team is debating whether or not this will work. Is it possible to mock “The Bear,” or will it become overly serious? It involves determining the boundary.

CBS will broadcast the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
