Millie Bobby Brown stars in Netflix’s Damsel new movie trailer
Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming fantasy film Damsel, starring Millie Bobby Brown as a princess who must face a deadly dragon.
The film, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, is set to premiere on March 8, 2024.
Damsel follows the story of Princess Elodie (Brown), who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to discover that the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. She is then thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, relying solely on her wits and will to survive.
The trailer shows Elodie’s journey from a naive and dutiful damsel to a fierce and courageous heroine, as she battles the dragon and other dangers along the way. The film also features Angela Bassett as Elodie’s stepmother, Lady Bayford, Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle, Ray Winstone as the King, Nick Robinson as Prince Henry, and Brooke Carter as Floria, Henry’s sister.
Damsel is the latest project for Brown, who rose to fame with her role as Eleven in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. She also starred and produced in another Netflix film, Enola Holmes, based on the novels by Nancy Springer. Brown is also set to reprise her role as Madison Russell in Godzilla vs. Kong, which will be released in May 2024.
The film is written by Dan Mazeau, who also wrote the screenplay for Wrath of the Titans and the upcoming Flash movie. Fresnadillo, who is known for his work in horror and thriller films such as 28 Weeks Later and Intruders, praised Brown for her exceptional performance and commitment to the role.
