World’s biggest pumpkin, new world record
Travis Gienger, winner of the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, is now the proud holder of the Guinness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin ever grown.
The competition, which has taken place annually for the past 50 years, sees growers from all over North America competing to see who can grow the heaviest pumpkin. This year, Gienger stole the show with his gigantic pumpkin weighing an incredible 2749 pounds. That’s roughly the same weight as a fully grown hippopotamus!
After months of careful nurturing and tending, Gienger’s dedication and hard work have paid off in a big way, setting a world record. The orange-shirted pumpkin enthusiast was elated to have won the competition, pumping his fists in the air and hugging fellow growers and admirers alike. The weigh-in was accompanied by “We Are The Champions” by Queen to mark this historic moment.

Gienger’s colossal pumpkin exceeded the world record previously held by an Italian grower. The Italian pumpkin weighed in at a comparatively slim 2703 pounds (1247 kilograms). Gienger’s victory brings the championship title to America for the first time in a decade, with the previous ten winners coming from Canada.
The $30000 prize awarded to Gienger will likely be put to good use in helping fund future pumpkin growing endeavours. Gienger has focused on growing pumpkins for some years now and has said that he plans to keep doing so.

While some will be transformed into spooky Halloween decorations, others will be used to make scrumptious pies or included in delectable fall dishes. Pumpkin spice seasoning, a blend of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger, is a sought after taste during this time of year, incorporated in things such as coffee and cookies.
Gienger and his pumpkin have managed to make history, setting a new world record. With autumn in full swing in the United States, we can expect to see plenty of pumpkin-themed goodies on offer in the weeks to come.cans of Spam.
