Trump’s inauguration portrait linked to viral Squid Game meme

Presidential-elect Donald Trump recently went viral after his new inauguration portrait flooded social media, receiving mixed reactions across different platforms. 

Social media users on Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter) shared several posts comparing his old 2017 inauguration portrait to the most recent one.

On the contrary, others jokingly pointed out that it’s similar to the “Before and after” Squid game viral meme linking player 456’s photos during the first and second seasons of the popular Korean drama to Trump’s two inauguration portraits.

In the 2017 portrait, the presidential-elect appeared happy and composed with a smiling expression on his face while his 2025 inauguration portrait, showcased a more fierce and confident gaze.

While many social media users expressed how Donald Trump showcased authority and patriotism because he had an American flag behind him and was wearing an American flag pin, several others also compared the photo to his old mugshot from 2023, which was taken after the presidential-elect was accused of racketeering and related charges.

The poster was shared across several platforms in anticipation of the presidential-elect taking office on Jan. 20, 2025.

One user wrote on Musk’s X, “Wow, that’s an incredible portrait of President Trump The colors really capture his energy and charisma. Can’t wait to see it hanging in the White House soon!”

Another added, “Politics aside, but President Donald Trump is looking like player 456 from Squid Game.”
