The best Assassin’s Creed games of all time

Ubisoft’s recent Assassin’s Creed: Mirage goes back to the original roots of the franchise by giving fans a linear approach, a condensed map, and stealthy gameplay.

Although Ubisoft is on the right track of making the Assassin’s Creed franchise great again, Mirage didn’t come close to the games we’re going to list today since it was an afterthought with limited resources and a smaller team.

What makes AC games so special is their way of portraying old history while also educating people and introducing them to some of the most well-known figures of the past.

The best Assassin’s Creed games of all time

1) Assassin’s Creed Unity

Assassin's Creed

(Ubisoft)

Explore the stunning city of Paris and become part of exposing the true powers behind the French Revolution.

Unity is based on the French Revolution from 1789 to 1794 in the capital of France, Paris. It tells the story of an assassin named Arno Dorian as he avenges the people responsible for murdering his father.

Despite having a shaky and buggy release in 2014, everything has been fixed by now making it one of the best AC games to play right now because of its fluid parkour system and stunning graphics that live up to this day.

Ubisoft is known for having games on sale but at the time of writing this article, Unity sits at $29.99.

2) Assassin’s Creed Black Flag

Assassin's Creed

(Ubisoft)

Become an outlaw and set sail with your own ship and crew while listening to great pirate chants and songs.

Black Flag is set in 1715 when pirates ruled the Caribbean in what we call “The Golden Age of Pirates” and established their own laws and rules.

Play as Captain Edward Kenway, a brash Englishman who is the grandfather of AC 3’s Connor and father of antagonist Haytham Kenway as he searches the Caribbean for treasures being sought out by both the Assassins and the Templars.

Black Flag currently costs $39.99.

3) Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed

(Ubisoft)

Play as one of the franchise’s best characters Ezio in a historically accurate AC game.

Brotherhood (inspired by the real-life Order of Assassins) is the third installment of the Assassin’s Creed games and the second chapter of the “Ezio Trilogy”.

The game is set in  Renaissance Italy from 1500 to 1507 where Ezio takes action against the Templars (led by the powerful Borgia family) as he tries to rebuild the Brotherhood and liberate the Templars from Rome.

It’s definitely our favorite game out of the trilogy!

Brotherhood currently sits at $19.99.

4) Assassin’s Creed

Assassin's Creed

(Ubisoft)

This is where it all started!

Despite its outdated gameplay mechanics and graphics, we truly believe that every AC fan should experience Assassin’s Creed 1 to play as the badass Altaïr Ibn-La’A.

It all started when Ubisoft introduced the unique story of having modern people relive historical figures’ lives through a machine called the Animus. It tells the story of the historical struggle between the assassins and Templars in the holy land (now known as Palestine and Syria) from 1191.

Assassin’s Creed currently costs $19.99.

5) Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Assassin's Creed

(Ubisoft)

Last but not least, Play as twin assassins in the industrial and gritty city of London.

Last on the list is Syndicate, a game that follows twin assassins, Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye as they embark on a journey of taking London back from the corrupted Templars.

What makes this game so special, is its setting which is London, Britain in 1868 in the second Industrial Revolution which looks absolutely stunning although we are not huge fans of the grappling hook mechanic.

Syndicate is currently priced at $29.99.
