Sweden Records Coldest Night since 1999
On Tuesday, Sweden recorded its lowest temperature in 25 years for the month of January, reaching minus 43.6 degrees Celsius in the far north. This cold wave is also impacting Finland and its neighboring Norway.
Mattias Lind from the Swedish National Meteorological and Hydrological Institute said, “To put things in the right perspective, this is the lowest temperature Sweden has experienced in January since 1999.”
This temperature was measured at the Karesuando Enariarka station in the northern part of Sweden.
Lind added that “this is the lowest temperature recorded at this specific location since the commencement of measurements” at the site in 1888.
