Sony reveals Ghost of Tsushima anime and Helldivers 2 movie

During its press conference at CES 2025, Sony took the internet by storm after announcing an anime of Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima and a live adaptation of Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2, as reported by IGN. 

The ‘Ghost of Tsushima Legends’ anime will hit Crunchyroll exclusively in 2027 in collaboration with Aniplex and Sony Music for the soundtrack. Moreover, it will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, the man behind Star Wars: Visions “The Duel.” By the time of writing this article, no additional staff were mentioned.

This all comes in as fans patiently await Sucker Punch’s next sequel to the popular samurai franchise, Ghost of Yotei despite it receiving a swarm of criticism due to the voice actress’s controversial presence on social media.

The 2020 PlayStation exclusive at the time, made its way to the PS5 and recently PC as an enhanced version of its PS4 standard edition which included faster loading times, a higher resolution, and FPS.

Crunchyroll’s president Rahul Purini said, “The Ghost of Tsushima anime will offer fans an exciting new way to experience the game in an anime style that will be bold and groundbreaking.”

Head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash also added, “Having already proven the immense quality and versatility of our gaming properties across multiple successful film and television projects, we couldn’t be more excited to announce our first ever anime adaptation.”

On the contrary, Sony also announced that they were working on a live adaptation of their hit coop game, Helldivers 2, but by the time of reporting, minimal information about it had been revealed.
