Sean “Diddy” Combs’ third bail request denied amid racketeering charges

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ third bail plea rejected.

According to NBC, a court has rejected Sean “Diddy” Combs’s bail request after his legal team made a third plea to have him released from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, prior to his trial on May 5. “There are no conditions that reasonably ensure the safety of the community,” the verdict, dated November 27, 2024, stated.

The judge’s decision follows the denial of Combs’ legal team’s two previous pleas for release from federal detention and a court hearing on November 22 where Diddy and his legal team again requested Combs’ release.

Attorney Mark Agnifilo proposed at the court hearing that Diddy, who has entered a not guilty plea to federal charges of racketeering and human trafficking conspiracy after his arrest on September 17, be transferred to a three-bedroom residence on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, according to NBC. Patriot Security, a private security company, will oversee his protection, allowing him to speak only with his attorney.

Meanwhile, Combs’ most recent release request “may be dangerous,” according to the prosecution. Prosecutor Kristi Slavik stated during the hearing on November 22 that he “continues to violate the rules, he’s a danger to the community, he’s obstructing and trying to undermine the integrity of these proceedings,” and that he “is paying his way out of custody.”

NBC reported that prosecutors asserted Combs engaged in “witness tampering” during his detention. Prosecutors strengthened their objection to the rapper’s release in a follow-up 13-page filing that U.S. Attorney Damian Williams filed on November 25 and that the network was able to get.

According to the paper, Diddy orchestrated a “social media campaign” to commemorate his birthday on November 4th, in which Sean Love led a version of “Happy Birthday,” and all of his children appeared in a video calling their father in prison. The prosecution stated that they intended the Instagram post to influence the jury.

Diddy’s possible release terms, the prosecution added, do not ensure protection against “future violence and obstruction of justice,” particularly considering the musician’s usage of a private security firm at the flat, and “Combs simply cannot be trusted.”

Alexandra Shapiro, Combs’ lawyer, responded to the complaint by stating that the birthday tweet was “completely innocent,” that the rapper is “already drowning in a sea of negative publicity,” and that the First Amendment protects his public statements and social media posts.
