Saad Lamjarred faces trial on sexual assault charges in France

Popular Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is set to attend a court trial in France on Monday over sexually assaulting a waitress in 2018.

According to Morocco World News, this marks the 40-year-old’s fourth time he allegedly assaulted a woman, with cases dating back to 2010, 2016 and 2017.

While Lamjarred was arrested in 2010 over the suspicion of rape in the US, he was bailed out after a settlement was reached with the victim.

Additionally, a French-Moroccan woman also accused the singer of assaulting her in Casablanca in 2017. Moreover, the singer was also sentenced to six years of prison in 2023 in France for sexually assaulting and beating a young woman at a Paris hotel in 2016.

However, the singer remains a free man until proven guilty ahead of his Monday trial.

Saad Lamjarred was accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a waitress in a bar located in Saint-Tropez, France. However, the Moroccan star has denied the accusation.

A verdict is expected on Thursday, following today’s trial. The alleged victim’s lawyer said that she suffered “A night of horror” and has patiently waited seven years for the law to recognise her as a victim.

The woman claims she met Lamjarred at a nightclub, and at the time, she did not know he was a famous singer. She later learned about his successful career and agreed to meet him for a drink at his hotel. She added that Lamjarred then took her to his room and assaulted her. However, the singer claims that the interaction was consensual.
