Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not invited to Trooping the Colour 2025

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were absent from Trooping the Colour 2025 amid ongoing royal tensions.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not invited to Trooping the Colour, the annual military parade held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, to commemorate King Charles’s birthday, for the third consecutive year.

Regardless of the monarch’s actual birthday, the celebration is a yearly custom that commemorates King Charles’ third coronation parade. It features a royal family get-together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as well as a military demonstration.

The couple last attended Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, but they opted not to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony and instead watched from a private chamber out of the public eye.

Due to continuing tensions, they will not be invited to the celebrations this year, as they were not invited in 2023 or 2024. After Prince Harry lost a legal battle to reclaim his personal security detail in Britain, the situation has gotten worse. In an interview, he acknowledged that, despite his wish to patch things up, his father is not talking to him at the moment because of this situation.

Due to demonstrations in the city, Meghan’s planned participation in a charity event in Los Angeles recognizing her community initiatives was postponed.

According to People magazine, while King Charles is still undergoing chemotherapy for his cancer, he will take part in the 2025 Trooping the Colour procession in his wooden car at the Royal Box for the second consecutive year.

Along with Queen Camilla, Prince Edward, Princess Anne, and a few of the king’s cousins, Princess Kate and Prince William will also be present at the occasion with their kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

It is important to note that Prince Harry’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have only made one trip to the UK, during the Platinum Jubilee festivities in 2022, and have never been to this performance.

According to royal family scholar Sally Bedell Smith, Harry and his father’s “lack of trust” is the primary reason for their split.
