Social media users took to platforms like Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter) and speculated that the player made the gesture amid Yahya Sinwar’s passing due to an Israeli airstrike on Oct. 16, 2024, in Gaza.
His assassination was first confirmed by the Israeli army’s X account sparking speculation among users on social media if it’s true or not before being announced globally by multiple news outlets including Qatar’s Al Jazeera.
One pro-Palestine user took to social media to voice their opinion about the matter in question. Here’s what he had to say:
“Away from the football nonsense, we are in a mourning state extending across the country, but the celebration of the Palestinian Al-Ahly player, Wissam Haitham Abu Ali, for his goal against the Emirati Al-Ain team… in the last days of the brave Yahya Sinwar… is a good glimpse that we must praise”.
