Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic receives mixed reactions, turns off YouTube comments
Amid its reveal during the 2024 Game Awards, Naughty Dog’s upcoming franchise Intergalactic has received mixed reactions among gamers and content creators as many called it “mid” and “uninteresting”.
Despite having top-notch graphics, excellent facial features, and a coherent cyberpunk style, several users on social media pointed out that the most interesting thing about the trailer was the anime short showcased inside the game’s television, further pointing out that they have no interest whatsoever in the main character.
Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic receives mixed reactions, turns off YouTube comments
Just after the release of its trailer, Naughty Dog closed down the comments section on YouTube for alleged backlash from fans.
Moreover, several other individuals called the main character “Woke” for being bald and having an overall masculine personality, leading to comments about her resemblance to Fast and Furious actor, Vin Diesel and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Another expressed their disappointment about the abundance of brands present in the trailer including Adidas and Porsche calling Intergalactic soulless and an attempt to score nostalgia points with older gamers and retro lovers.
Some even compared the game to Sony’s recent take on the competitive hero shooter genre, Concord which closed its door recently after a low player base despite costing millions of dollars to make.
Another issue was the lack of gameplay showcased in the trailer, leaving a lot more to be desired. This is an issue modern gamers have been suffering from as studios showcase brilliant cinematics for a game and leave the most important part, the gameplay.
As much as gamers love stunning cinematics from studios like Blizzard and FromSoftware, a game reveal without gameplay is just eye candy without substance.
Lastly, it’s difficult to tell what Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic is gearing towards gameplay-wise, but we’re excited to see what one of the best studios of the present time, is going to bring to the table in 2026 or 2027.
According to GamesRadar+, similar to older titles, Intergalactic will be a Sony exclusive, but might make it to PC at a later date like The Last of Us and Uncharted.
