Morocco earthquake forces Najwa Karam to stop her concert (video)
Lebanese songstress Najwa Karam was forced to stop her concert in the city of Agadir last night, after a strong earthquake struck several Moroccan cities, leaving hundreds dead and wounded.
In details, Karam took to the stage of Al Amal Square in Agadir in the second day of Timitar festival, and within minutes she announced that she had to stop the concert due to an earthquake.

Social media users have circulated a video of the moment when Najwa Karam put an end to the concert.
The Roh Rohi hitmaker gave a heartfelt speech where she said:
“I would like to say a word from my heart. I was coming to present happiness that would reach all of your hearts in my second home country Morocco with all my love to you. Because of the circumstance that just happened, I would apologize that we have received instructions, in order to preserve all of our safety, we must stop the concert.”
According to local reports, Moroccan performers have preceded the Lebanese singer’s concert, such as; Ahwash Idaoutan, Larbi Imgran and Manal Benchilikha, and when Karam ascended to the stage, the earthquake occurred.
Moroccan media reported that the program of the second day of Timitar festival was suspended due to the earthquake, and the large crowds left Al Amal Square and the theater towards open-air areas devoid of buildings.
Najwa Karam was excited to meet her Moroccan fans in Agadir. On Instagram, she promoted the concert in a picture captioned with: “Our new date with the dear Moroccan audience in Al Amal Square on Friday, September 8, 2023… in the city of Agadir at the Timitar Festival – Morocco.”

The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior announced the death of 296 people in the provinces and towns of Al Haouz, Marrakesh and Ouarzazate as a result of the powerful earthquake, the toll up to 2 a.m. today, Saturday.
Hespress newspaper said that an earthquake was recorded on the evening of Friday, September 8, 2023, at approximately 11:11 p.m., with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was located in the Ighil community in Al Haouz Province.
This earthquake resulted in the death of 296 people in the provinces and prefectures of Al Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant, and 153 people were injured of varying severity. They were transferred to hospitals to receive the necessary aid.
The material damage included a group of uninhabited areas, stressing that the local authorities and the security and civil protection services in all the provinces and regions of the Kingdom concerned have harnessed all means and capabilities to intervene, provide the necessary assistance, and assess the damage.
