Man kidnaps, rapes, then kills Egyptian girl

In a horrifying crime that has left many in shock, a young Egyptian girl named Haneen was strangled to death and then raped before being buried by her neighbor in Damietta Governorate. The gruesome details of the crime were revealed after a surveillance camera documented the events leading up to her disappearance.

The owner of the property with the surveillance camera that recorded the incident explained that the electricity would often go out at around 2 pm and come back at around 4 pm. At around 1:30 pm on the day of her disappearance, the surveillance camera showed Haneen eating a bag of chips that she had taken from a store next to the house where the crime took place. She sat eating them for around a quarter of an hour before leaving the house.

Detectives from Kafr Saad in Damietta reviewed the cameras several times, and the townspeople cooperated with them over two weeks to uncover the truth behind the girl’s disappearance. The investigation led to the identification of the accused, who was related to Haneen and her family. He later confessed to his crime.

The accused explained that Haneen had come to their house to have fun with his sister’s daughters, but he made her believe that they were sleeping and would wake them up. He then lured her into one of the rooms in the house where he committed his crimes. The Egyptian girl tried to scream for help but the man buried her in one of the house’s rooms.

The accused went on to say where he buried the Egyptian girl, and it was then transferred to the morgue at the disposal of the Public Prosecution. The villagers carried Haneen’s body to her final resting place, amidst a state of shock and sadness over the horror of the crime she was subjected to.

This tragedy will surely leave its mark on its community. It also shows the need to put more safety measures for children, particularly in rural areas where surveillance cameras may not be readily available.
