Kim Kardashian under fire for rejoining Balenciaga after child porn controversy
Kim Kardashian, the reality TV star and entrepreneur, has sparked outrage among some social media users for rejoining Balenciaga as its brand ambassador.
Kardashian, who has been a loyal supporter of the luxury fashion house since 2017, announced her decision to work with Balenciaga again in a statement on her Instagram account on Monday.
“I am thrilled to be back at Balenciaga, a brand that I admire and respect for its creativity and innovation,” Kardashian wrote. “I have always loved their designs and their commitment to sustainability and diversity. I believe in their vision and their values, and I look forward to collaborating with them again.”
However, not everyone was happy with Kardashian’s comeback. Some Twitter users criticized her for working with Balenciaga again after the brand faced a major controversy last year over its holiday campaign. The campaign featured images of children posing with teddy bears that appeared to be wearing bondage-style accessories, as well as text from a 2008 Supreme Court decision that upheld a federal statute related to child pornography.
“Not that ugly Zionist being named as Balenciaga’s ambassador again,” one user tweeted.
Another user wrote: “Kim Kardashian is back at Balenciaga after that big statement she put out after the ad controversy.”
Kardashian had previously spoken out against Balenciaga’s controversial ads in November 2022, saying she was “disgusted” and “shaken” by the images. She also said she was re-evaluating her relationship with the brand based on their willingness to accept accountability and protect children.
Balenciaga apologized for the ads in November 2022 and removed them from all platforms. The brand also said it was taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for the photoshoot.
Kardashian has not commented on whether she will continue working with Balenciaga or not. She has been seen wearing several outfits from the brand in public events, such as attending Paris Fashion Week in September 2022.
