Justin Timberlake’s DUI arrest: legal defense updates and Britney Spears’ enigmatic response
“I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Justin Timberlake on the allegations of drunk driving,” Edward Burke Jr., the defense attorney for Justin Timberlake, said in an interview with Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 19.
He proceeded by saying, “I will have a lot to say in due time, but at the moment I am waiting for the full discovery of what happened from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.”
On Tuesday, June 18, Timberlake was taken into custody in the Hamptons and charged with one count of driving while drunk and refusing to take a breathalyzer test. The charges were ultimately dismissed.
Us Weekly’s statement indicated that the defendant’s refusal to take a breath test reduced the charge to a single count. Mr. Justin also received two additional court tickets, one for failing to stop at a stop sign and another for not traveling in the correct lane of traffic.
Justin left the Sag Harbor Police Station in the Hamptons in the morning after spending the night in detention. After his court appearance, they released him on his own recognizance. Because he has a new court date on July 26, his tour plans, which began in April, may become more complicated. On that particular day, he is slated to perform in Poland; however, it is not known if a lawyer will be there to represent him in court.
In the later hours of that day, the Sag Harbor Police Department issued a statement regarding the arrest, which included a mugshot of Timberlake. The statement read as follows: “On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 a.m., Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was seen… “Operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Avenue, he failed to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failed to maintain his lane.”
It is fascinating that Britney Spears, who was once in a relationship with Justin, sent a message on Instagram entitled “It’s the little things you know,” in which she commented on the meaning of the phrase. Some of her followers saw this as a message of celebration from her over what had occurred with him.
