Hezbollah announces killing of its fighter in Lebanon
Lebanon’s Hezbollah armed group says one of its fighters, Mustafa Hassan Salman, also known as Abu Hassan, has been killed in Lebanon.
The 33-year-old was from the town of El Qleaa in southern Lebanon, according to the group’s statement published on Telegram.
The announcement did not mention where or how he was killed.
The statement comes amid a flare up of violence along the Israel-Lebanese border. While fire exchanges have taken place on a nearly daily base along border areas since the start of the war in Gaza, it has intensified in the past week following the killing of a Hezbollah senior commander by Israel.
According to an AFP news agency tally, border clashes have so far killed nearly 500 people in Lebanon, mostly fighters but also 95 civilians since October 7. Israeli authorities say at least 16 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed on the Israeli side.
Israel killed at least 40 people in past 24 hours across Gaza: Ministry
At least 75 people have also been injured in Israel’s attacks across Gaza, raising the total number of injuries since October 7 to 87,903, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
The new figures raised the overall death toll to 38,193, including more than 15,983 children and 10,637 women, the ministry said.
Hezbollah and Israel trying to strengthen their bargaining positions
Hezbollah has repeatedly said it would halt firing once there’s a deal in Gaza, something Hamas agrees to. But the biggest question is – will this be enough for the Israelis?
The Israelis want tens of thousands of people to return to their homes in northern Israel and they want those people to feel safe.
Israel is demanding that Hezbollah pulls back at least 8km (5 miles) from the border.
Hezbollah – at least from its sources and statements from officials – is not ready to do that. You’re seeing Hezbollah’s attacks becoming more sophisticated.
Yesterday, it hit a strategic surveillance centre in Mount Hermon. That’s in the Israeli occupied Syrian Golan Heights. It’s showing its capabilities to the Israelis, or strengthening if you like, its bargaining position.
Both sides are sending messages of deterrence, trying to improve or strengthen their bargaining positions as negotiations happen. No doubt, this conflict is dangerously poised.

Two missiles hit al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City: Report

“Today the complete evacuation of the hospital has been ordered,” Sewell said on X. “Full information yet to be received. Deeply distressing,” he added.
His comment comes as the Israeli military has expanded its operation in different districts of Gaza City, forcing thousands to flee.
Earlier, we reported that the medical team there had evacuated patients from the hospital.
More than 20 people arrested in occupied West Bank: Israeli army
The Israeli military says it has confiscated weapons in Palestinian villages and cities across the West Bank.
Raids and mass arrests have become a near-daily occurrence in the Palestinian territory since the start of the war in Gaza.
While the Israeli army says it has arrested more than 4,100 Palestinians, including 1,750 affiliated with Hamas, a Palestinian prisoners group says more than 9,500 have been detained since October 7.
More than a third of them are in Israeli prisons under so-called administrative detention, rights groups said, a practice by which the Israeli army holds prisoners indefinitely on secret information without charging them.
