Israel says only gates of Tehran’s Evin prison were targeted

Israel targeted only the gates of Tehran’s Evin prison and did not strike the main prison complex, an Israeli official said on Monday.
Israel earlier says it targeted Tehran’s notorious Evin prison as well as the command centers of security agencies in Iran responsible for “maintaining the regime’s stability.”
The Israeli military “is carrying out strikes of unprecedented force against regime targets and agencies of government repression in the heart of Tehran,” Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote on X as the Iran-Israel conflict raged for an 11th day.
An Israeli official said: “We did not target the Evin Prison building, only its gates.”
The official said that the decision on when to end the strikes on Iran rests with Israel’s political leadership.
Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah is “deterred and has not engaged in fighting alongside Iran recently,” the official added.
“Our achievements in Syria and Lebanon have decreased the possibility of Hezbollah involvement in the current operation.”
