Is this popular seed oil causing colon cancer?
A recent study funded by the American government showcased that specific seed oils are allegedly causing a large number of colon cancer cases among young people in the US. The study in question was quickly shared across social media due to its concerning nature.
According to The Daily Mail, the study adds that using these specific oils in cooking including sunflower, canola, corn, and grapeseed can cause inflammation in the body. Moreover, research shows that patients under the age of 50 might get diagnosed with colon cancer at a later stage in their lives due to developing tumors that could lead to the life-threatening disease.
Researchers found that patients who had these specific tumors suffered from high levels of bioactive lipids which form when the human body breaks down seed oils, leading to inflammation, and cancer over time.
Is this popular seed oil causing colon cancer?
Amid the release of the study, many users on social media are combating the issue in question by recommending others to swap seed oils with other healthier alternatives including oils such as olive, and avocado. Others claim that using beef fat, and ghee is a healthier alternative as well.
On the other hand, some Americans claim that seed oils don’t cause cancer but rather other symptoms including the risk of heart disease and diabetes, recommending consumers stray further from these specific oils.
The American Heart Association added that there’s been no evidence that using seed oils in cooking moderately causes inflammation.
This all comes amid the rise of colon cancer cases among young people in the US. Diagnosis of the disease is expected to rise by 90 percent among people aged between 20 and 25 from 2010 to 2030.
Despite that, a recent study made by the University of South Florida showcases that Americans depend on and consume seed oils too much as the average citizen consumes 100 pounds a year there.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also been an advocate of promoting the use of beef tallow as a healthier alternative to seed oils since he claims that they cause chronic diseases, and are highly processed.
