Irish band Kneecap clashes with Fox News over pro-Palestine Coachella concert

Irish band Kneecap recently made headlines after projecting the words, “F**k Israel, Free Palestine”  during their 2025 Coachella performance. Days after videos of the performance swarmed social media, American outlet Fox News took to its TV channel with a segment criticizing the band.

The segment featured former swimmer and now political activist Riley Gaines, who also criticized American punk band Green Day, after they stood up for the Palestinians during their Coachella performance by changing the lyrics to one of their songs to showcase solidarity for the children in Gaza.

During the segment, Gaines described Kneecap as “A band I’ve never even heard of,” which prompted the Irish band to take to its official socials and write. “The only part of this sh*te that made any sense.”

Riley Gaines added that all these pro-Palestine activists, including Green Day and Kneecap, shouldn’t be “anti-Israel” but “anti-Hamas.” When asked for solutions about combating young pro-Palestinian people in the US, Gaines replied, “We have to remove these activists from these authority positions… I think that’s the best word for it.”

She also criticized higher education institutions for allowing these activists to “infiltrate” their premises.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of at least 51,200 Palestinians and has left nearly 117,000 injured, without counting individuals killed under the rubble due to constant attacks and bombardments.
