Hunter x Hunter manga returns from hiatus!
Hunter X Hunter’s creator, Yoshihiro Togashi posted on his official X account (formerly known as Twitter) that the manga is returning from January’s hiatus.
The post said “Start over” with a picture showing the side of a manuscript which is a paper that Japanese Managakas use to draw their panels on.
The Hunter X Hunter manga has been going on hiatus for as long as fans can remember because of Togashi’s constant health issues with his back.
The manga returned from a four-year hiatus in Shueisha’s (Shonen Jump) 47th issue in 2022 and it has been decided that HunterX Hunter should not carry on with its usual weekly release because of Togashi’s health issues.
Togashi is also known for his legendary shonen manga, YuYu Hakusho which received an anime in 1992 garnering huge success in both Japan and internationally.
According to Anime News Outlet, he revealed that chapter 401 was completed in March but has not confirmed when it will be back to serialization.
Volume 37 has already hit Japanese markets which is Hunter X Hunter’s first book since 2018 while Viz Media will ship the English version to Western audiences on Oct. 3, 2023.
Hunter X Hunter 2011/ Madhouse
Hunter X Hunter began its serialization on Shonen Jump in 1998 and inspired two anime series and OVAs by Studio Madhouse.
The first series launched in 1999 and ended in 2001 with four seasons (62 episodes) which covered around 100 chapters from the manga after ending.
Although the first anime is amazing, we recommend watching Madhouse’s remake that launched in 2011 which covers up to the Chimera Ant Arc since it tells the story better and is visually stunning.
Madhouse’s Hunter X Hunter 2011 has a total of 148 episodes and can be watched on both Crunchyroll and Netflix with each offering it for select countries.
With the return of Madhouse and Togashi, we hope to see an anime adaptation of the uncovered chapters soon!
