Houthis hit critical Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu

The Houthis came out with a statement on Saturday saying they launched strikes targeting critical Aramco infrastructure in the Saudi port city of Yanbu, along with ‘sensitive’ targets in Riyadh.

The attacks targeted Riyadh first, hitting a fuel depot near Riyadh’s international airport with firefighters scrambling to extinguish a blaze on a fuel tank emblazoned with the logo of the Saudi oil giant Aramco.

FlightRadar24 reported “major problems” at the nearby Riyadh King Khalid International Airport, before normal traffic began to resume after the attacks.

Hours after residents reported blasts in the Saudi capital, the second attack hit Aramco oil facilities in the kingdom’s port city of Yanbu, both attacks followed the first overnight air raid alert issued by Saudi since fighting in neighbouring Yemen escalated this month.

“In response to the Saudi enemy’s criminal attempts to target the capital Sana’a… the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out two successful military operations using a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones,” the Houthi statement made on Telegram by military spokesman Yahya Saree said,

“The first targeted sensitive sites in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and the second targeted Aramco facilities in Yanbu.”
