Gal Gadot under fire for absence at Israeli film screening in LA
Israeli actress Gal Gadot has found herself at the center of controversy after failing to attend her own screening of the film “Bearing Witness,” which documents the Hamas attack on her native country.
The 43-minute film was shown in Hollywood on Wednesday to around 200 attendees, including an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) official, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, and prominent figures from the entertainment industry.
Despite being a vocal supporter of Israel and having served in the IDF for two years, Gadot’s absence from the event has raised eyebrows. Speculation about her reasons for not attending circulated, with Israeli-based i24NEWS reporting that the actress chose to stay away due to concerns for her safety.
Social media platforms lit up with discussions about Gadot’s absence, with one person questioning, “How was it ‘her screening’ if she wasn’t there.” The absence of the Wonder Woman star has led to divided opinions, reflecting the deeply tense nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Gadot’s film producer husband, Yaron Varsano, and the director of “Bearing Witness,” Guy Nattiv, were in attendance, emphasizing Gadot’s involvement in bringing the project to fruition. Nattiv acknowledged the contributions of Gadot and Varsano, stating, “Gal Gadot and her husband, Yaron Varsano, helped make this possible.”
As a prominent figure with a significant following, Gadot’s stance on the matter is closely scrutinized, and her decision to not attend the screening has sparked intense debate.
