El Gouna Film Festival reveals date of its upcoming 8th edition

 The El Gouna Film Festival recently generated excitement across the Arab side of social media after its management committee revealed the date for its upcoming eighth edition. 

The renowned film festival will be held from Oct. 16 to 24, 2025 in El Gouna, Egypt, after previous successful runs. Its seventh edition featured the screening of more than 80 films from 40 countries, which all competed for prizes that reached more than $230,000.

El Gouna Film Festival’s seventh edition also chose 21 standout projects out of 230 submissions which the organization helped in their development and post-production stages, while also offering the winner a prize of a whopping $400,000.

According to a social media post made by the management committee, Its eighth edition aims to build on previous successes by offering a richer and enhanced experience for filmmakers, cinematographers, industry professionals, audiences, and celebrities.

The seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival hosted 20 discussion panels, nine specialized masterclasses, several workshops, and a roundtable full of industry professionals. The festival also aims to bring Arab filmmakers with fellow international ones to further enhance the Arab cinema world.

One of its main aims is to also discover and shine a spotlight on new hidden gems and talented individuals.
